The Get Movin’ Challenge

RachelleThe 2017 Get Movin’ Challenge is well underway. For the entire month of February, staff and students are meeting the challenge of reaching 7,000 steps per day! Here’s what you need to know about Prize Day and Submitting Your Results this year.

Submitting Your Results

Did you make the bronze (10 days), silver (15 days) or gold (20 days) mark? Now’s the time to submit your results!!

Scroll to the bottom of this page and tell us how you did to be entered for prizes!

Results will only be captured through this method – not through e-mail or in person. Results can be submitted until 3 pm on March 1.

The Draw

After the results are collected, a draw will be held to determine the various prize winners on Thursday March 2nd.

Prize Day and Pancake Breakfast

Prize Day is on Friday March 3rd from 11am-1pm at the Cave at Notre Dame Campus.

Winners will be announced during the event, and can either pick up their prizes in person or have other arrangements made.

The RRCSA will be hosting a pancake breakfast during the event, so make sure you come by for some flapjacks! A minimum donation of $2 for the pancakes is being asked in support of the SA Foodbank.

Please remember: Results will not be accepted on Prize Day. Deadline to submit results is March 1 at 3 pm using the online form below.

Logging your Steps Each Day

All participants will be self-reporting, and at the end of February you will be invited to submit your results electronically on this page – scroll to the bottom to see this.

Free pedometers are also available, on a first-come-first-serve basis, at the in-person sign up days!

Step Conversion Chart

Some activities do not allow for a pedometer to be used, or perhaps you would rather count your steps/exercise/activity without one. No problem. You can use the following Step Conversion Charts to mark your progress! Below are to separate but similar conversion charts, use whichever one that works best for you and get active!

There are three huge prize categories that can be entered depending on how many days you achieve 7,000 steps! The more days you achieve your goal, the better the prizes. All participants will be self-reporting. Cutoff to enter results online is 3:00pm, Wednesday March 1st

Incentives/Prize Structure: Participants will gain entry into each prize category if they complete a specific minimum number of days in which they achieve 7,000 steps per day. There will be 3 prize levels:

Bronze Level: 10 days completed

Swag, Rebels gear, Yard games, Fitness equipment

Silver Level: 15 days completed

Jane’s Restaurant $50.00 gift card, Free Rec Services Fitness Class, Massage session with Jason Matthes @ AAA Mobile Massage Therapy, Athletic Therapy Session with Rebels Athletics, Saje Wellness Diffuser , Snow Shoes

Gold Level: 20 days competed

$175.00 Photoshoot donated by Lindsay Rowan, $200.00 Thermea Spa Gift Certificate, 200.00 VISA gift card, $200.00 Gift Card to Float Calm Therapy Centre, $200.00 Sport Check gift card

Example on how prize leveling work: If Jill reaches 7,000 steps in 21 days, she is entered once in each level draw. If Joe reaches 7,000 in 17 days, he is entered once into the Bronze and Silver levels.

Send in a pic of you and/or your co-workers, fellow students, friends and family being active and achieving your daily 7,000 steps to along with a brief synopsis and be entered to win a weekly prize! Your pic may make the blog and inspire other participants to Get Movin!
