With the stress of exams and holidays right around the corner make sure you take some time to look after you.  Taking a few minutes each day will help combat the stress and make the season more enjoyable.  Even though we are inside more than we like, no reason why cannot continue to exercise and be active. Rec Services has asked each of our fantastic fitness instructors to provide an exercise routine that anyone can do by themselves in the gym or at home. First up is Cameron:

New Communications Protocol at RRC

November 21, 2016 • Written by

Effective immediately, Red River College has adopted a new communications protocol for informing staff and students about situations in which emergency responders are called to one of our campuses.

This new communications protocol is in response to feedback we received following an incident last Tuesday that resulted in a noticeable police presence at Roblin Centre.

The new communications protocol will now see the College’s emergency notification system activated to provide information as an event is unfolding (ie: notification that police or fire department response is underway, where and why), as opposed to waiting until a situation is resolved. (Note: the protocol will not be activated for routine paramedic calls that do not impact the broader campus community.)

In order for us to ensure that our new emergency communications protocol is as effective as possible, please take a moment to sign up for our Campus Alerting System and download the RRC Mobile Safety app. It’s very important that these tools are fully utilized by those on campus.

To receive text messages via RRC’s Campus Alerting System, current staff and students can sign up on HUB through the Campus Alerts link (found under the Staff and Faculty / Students menus). The alerting system allows staff and students to provide their mobile phone number (MTS subscribers only) and select which campuses they want to receive text alerts for.

The RRC Mobile Safety app provides staff and students with notifications in the event of a lockdown, emergency situation or campus closure. Download the app today (iPhone, Android, BlackBerry) and be sure to allow “push notifications” when prompted after launching the app for the first time.

We will also continue to use email, our website blog and social media to provide information to staff, and students and we are looking at ways to expand our use of these communications tools as well. You can find a list of RRC’s social media accounts at:

We will continue to monitor and revise our communications procedures as we strive for best practices in order to move forward with a more effective protocol.
