Women’s Soccer add Alyshia Da Silva for 2017 Season

Red River College Women’s Soccer is pleased to announce the commitment of Alyshia Da Silva for the fall 2017 MCAC season.

Alyshia played her youth soccer with FCNW Premier.  She helped FCNW win two MSA Cups and represented Manitoba at the CSA Club Nationals.  At U16 her team came second in the national championships.

Alyshia graduated from Maples Collegiate in 2016.  In high school she played on the soccer team and was a multi-sport athlete.  She was selected Rookie of the Year, Athlete of the Month several times, won the Athletic Award of Excellence from grade 10 to 12, and was Athlete of the Year in grade 12.  She was an honour roll student throughout high school and won the school’s leadership award and O.V. Jewitt scholarship in grade 12.

Following high school Alyshia joined Brazil FC in the 1st Division of the WWSL.  Alyshia played centre-back in youth, and is also very effective in outside positions where she plays with her senior team.  Her club coach Barry McArton describes Alyshia as, “a strong player who thinks the game very well.”  Her strengths include speed, confidence dribbling and playing the long ball.

After having completed her pre-requisite courses at the UofW, Alyshia will be entering the Medical Radiologic Technology program at RRC this Fall.
