MCAC Basketball Championship weekend came and went for the Rebels, with the women’s team capturing their 6th straight championship, while the men’s team fell short in defending their title. For in depth stories of both, please click on the below links:
The Rebels women’s volleyball team earned their first shot at a MCAC Championship in 4 years this weekend, qualifying for playoffs by the slimmest of margins. Even the though they were swept by ACC in both games this weekend, 3-0 (25-21, 25-20, 25-19) and 3-2 (25-18, 16-25, 25-18, 24-26, 15-11), they still managed to qualify on a 4th (!!!) tie-breakers. The following is the MCAC explanation of how the Rebels earned the 4th and final playoff spot.
i: Record Head to Head – The record between Red River College and Assiniboine Community College this season was 2-2
ii: Sets Won/Lost Head to Head – Red River College and Assiniboine Community College both won 8 sets and lost 8 sets against each other.
iii: Sets Won/Lost Overall – Red River College finished the season with 31 sets won and 49 sets lost, a differential of -18.
Assiniboine Community College finished the season with 27 sets won, 47 sets lost, a differential of -20.
Red River College enters the 2017 MCAC Volleyball post season on behalf of a 2 set difference.
The lady Rebels will face the PUC Pilots in their MCAC semi-finals on Saturday February 25th at 12:00pm with the championships being hosted at St. Boniface.

The men’s volleyball team ended their season splitting the final two games against ACC 3-1 (25-21, 24-26, 25-22, 25-21) and 3-0 (25-22, 25-21, 25-16). The men finished in 6th place and will miss the playoffs.
The Rebel futsal games, faced USB Les Rogues Friday night in St. Boniface winning both games: Men 7-4 and women 4-1. Both teams next travel to CMU to face the Blazers this Friday night, with the women’s game starting at 6:00pm.
