What is Introduction to Trades?

What can you expect to learn?

Throughout Introduction to Trades program, a strong emphasis in math, science, and communications will comprise the academic component of the program. Students will receive a sound orientation to the trades through trade exploration, shop visitations, and meetings with invited speakers and potential employers. Tutorials and supplemental instruction will be built into the program to address individual needs.

Aboriginal perspective is incorporated into the program allowing students to connect with their cultural values, traditions, beliefs, reinforcing positive cultural identity and enhancing self-esteem and pride.

Students will be enrolled in courses that will prepare them academically, and may provide them with credits towards their trades program, reducing their first year course load. The Aboriginal Education department will continue to monitor and build in supports as needed.
