Application Process

All applications are submitted by email to Human Resource Services for compilation, unless otherwise noted in the posting. Once a posting is closed, applicant resumes are forwarded to the applicable hiring manager for paper screening. 

Screening Process

Applicant resumes are assessed against established screening criteria, which include the minimum requirements relative to experience; education and training. Those applicants who meet the required screening threshold are invited to attend an interview.

Only those applicants who are invited to attend an interview are contacted.

Assessment Process

A selection interview is the standard assessment method used to evaluate candidates. This consists of a Selection Committee, including a representative from Human Resource Services.

During the interview process, candidates are assessed against established selection criteria which measure knowledge, skills, abilities and further experience. These criteria are weighted as either critical, essential or desirable to the position. Questions related to the selection criteria are designed to elicit information about the candidate in order to assess the candidate’s ability to perform the duties of the position.

Interviews are generally 60-90 minutes in length, depending on the position. Some interviews may require a short presentation or demonstration. Reference checks are conducted to verify the assessed merits of the qualified candidate and to further assess past performance.

Candidate Selection

The Selection Committee integrates information from all assessment methods to determine the most qualified candidate for the position. The successful candidate will be provided with a written offer of employment. 

Security Checks

A security check is a highly confidential investigation into an individual’s record of crime, child abuse and/or adult abuse. Depending on the nature of the position sought, an successful applicant at Red River College may be required to provide a security check before being hired. Security checks are supplemental to reference checks and are required to assess the reliability and suitability of an applicant. More information can be found here.

Interview Feedback

Once an offer of employment is accepted by the successful candidate, all other candidates who were interviewed are notified of the results of the competition. Specific candidate feedback on interview performance can be obtained upon written request to Human Resource Services.
