Hospitality and Tourism Management

The first year of Hospitality and Tourism Management will provide a mix of general business courses as well as hospitality specific courses. This is intended to provide exposure to various aspects of the hospitality industry before a second-year major in Hotel & Restaurant Management.

A variety of workshops will assist students in understanding the industry (e.g. Professional Development and Workplace Diversity) and in obtaining certification required by the hospitality industry (e.g. Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System WHMIS, First Aid, It’s Good Business).

The Hotel and Restaurant Management major will focus primarily on two of the eight tourism sectors – Food and Beverage and Accommodation. The courses will be delivered from a supervisory or management perspective. The Hospitality Simulation offered in the final term is a capstone course requiring students to work in teams to resolve a variety of case studies, drawing on academic and work experience from previous terms.
