At the heart of economic growth and expansion are Red River College students and alumni. They bring their skills on vital projects across the province. But we can’t rest on our laurels. Which is why we are reinventing the traditional trades to ensure our students have a full toolkit of skills and knowledge on the most up to date methods and technologies.
The STTC will be a powerful new complex at the Notre Dame Campus that will ensure our highly-trained graduates remain the driving force of our economy. It will position the College to meet the future skills and innovation needs of Manitoba’s employers, and ensure that our students graduate into successful careers.
Robots, lasers and innovation are key components of the Smart Factory, housed in the STTC. The space will be a hub for applied research, an experiential learning facility and a technology demonstration site. Inspired by General Electric’s “Brilliant Factory” concept, it will combine emerging technology elements to build upon RRC’s aerospace and manufacturing training and applied research programs. The Smart Factory has the ability to connect key equipment and hardware for an industry 4.0 type of application.
Key technologies used at the Smart Factory include:
- Collaborative Robotics, Robotic Autonomous Platforms and End-of-Arm Tools
- Flexible Robotic Work Cells
- Additive Laser Metal Deposition System with 5-Axis Milling Capability
- Robotic 3D Metrology
- Industrial Networking
- Data Acquisition and Control Systems
