Getting Started

If you are a student with a diagnosed disability and want to develop a plan to receive accommodations, your first step is to make an appointment with a counsellor.

Accommodations are determined on an individual basis. When meeting one-on-one with a counsellor you can discuss how your disability might impact you at college, review your documentation, and look at the different types of accommodations that are available to you.

Counsellors can help develop your accommodation plan with you and refer you to others services in Student Support Services to implement your plan. Counsellors are also available to meet with you regularly to monitor the effectiveness of your plan.

To make sure your accommodations are all ready to go at the start of your program, it’s always best to meet with a counsellor before you start your program. If this isn’t possible, make sure you make an appointment soon so you can develop your accommodation plan.
